Overlap Prototype

DougRobison built these alternative prototypes using machined pins from dip sockets.

The design allows arbitrary configurations by alternating upper and lower boards just as white and black squares alternate on a checkerboard. Any board can be removed without altering the remaining configuration.

Doug fabricated the smallest boards he thought reasonable which makes the clipped squares look like regular octogons. They're squares, not octogons. Also Doug chose to fabricate the connectors with two pins, not three, just to save fabrication time in these non-functional prototypes.
